The U-pick is now closed for the season. We appreciate all of our amazing customers who stopped by in 2023! We have several varieties of peaches that start in late July and run through late August. Apples and grapes will be available just after Labor Day through late October. We offer 24 varieties of apples and Concord and Niagara grapes. We don’t offer entertainment, just excellent quality fruit and clean open spaces for families to enjoy quality time together at our friendly 70+ acre U-pick. We have portable restrooms available. Like always, you just stop at the entrance and pick up your bags, no need to get out of your car, then you’re free to drive out to the orchards and vineyard. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

The 2017 Season saw a major change at Shafer Orchards. Tom and Wendie Shafer decided to step aside from the farm and U-pick operation.
The farm and U-pick business has been leased to Doug and Suzy Forraht, an established local family experienced in fruit production and sales. The Forraht’s created a new entrance to the farm and set up a sales building at 9800 Hartline Road, Baroda MI 49101. The new farm name is now “The Shafer Farm LLC.” We are confident that you will continue to enjoy picking the same quality fruit you have become accustomed to picking when you come to the farm. We encourage you to come to the farm and begin a relationship with Doug and Suzy and their family. You will find them to be friendly and ready to show you where and how to pick some of the best fruits produced anywhere.

BEST PEACHES EVER this season. I was there a week ago Monday, August 7 and picked 7 1/2 bushels of Red Haven with my husband and 95year old mother. They were HUGE and ripened by the end of the week. NOT ONE SINGLE bruised or damaged peach in the whole 7 half bushels! GREAT YEAR!

We will open up for the apple U-pick on September 7th. We will have Mollies Delicious, Golden Supreme, Gala, McIntosh, and Blondee to start things off.

Yes, we have a nice crop this year and will open around the last week of July for Glenglo and 1st of August or so for Redhaven. Later varieties will be available through the 3rd week of August. Hope to see you soon.
